At La Semilla Ministries, Nicaragua, we are committed to our goal of seeing rural Nicaraguan families achieve their God given potential by providing a financially viable future for their families. Our Sustainable Agriculture Program builds on essential skills and resources which already exist in rural communities but are under-utilized. It is a cooperative model in basic grains production – ending with increased yields, market returns, and profitability of the participating producers.
NICOLAS & LILIAM SEQUEIRA: Photos of Nicolas and his family are pretty common on our pages since Nicolas has been a part of the work here since it’s inception in 2009. Nicolas and Liliam are pastors by training, but bi-vocational – making a living from the soil since there is no income provided by the church. This is very common in rural Nicaragua, pastors are welcome to share the gospel, but on «their own dime», they must meet their own financia needs. Nicolas has grown with the ministry, now owning his own home, and steadily increasing his planted area to be able to provide for his family. Currently he cultivates 11 acres of land, and Liliam provides her part by bringing in income working as a maid for a few families in the area.
It’s a joy to see the fruits of agriculture development in their lives. For the first time in their lives, they own a refridgerator – purchased with the profits of their most recent bean crop. God gets the glory in their home for all te blessings He provides.
