NESTOR MENDIETA: From the community of Santiago Las Flores, Nestor has been a participant in our technical AG program since 2015. One of the ways that we teach integrated development is by offering a Bible study course in the communities where we work. We’re not opening new churches, nor promoting a certain doctrine, just teaching Chistian values from their core. We apply those in practical context, in how producers interact with each other and with us as a ministry – with commitment, honesty, integrity, all fruits of a life of faith. «Conduct yourselves consistently with your faith», over and over, we repeat this message. God wants us to be authentic in our lifestyles. Besides, these characteristics work pretty well in all aspects of our lives!
Nestor struggled to produce a crop in some dry growing cycles in 2015, but is slowly repaying his line of credit (responsibility!, commitment!) so that he can continue to grow – economically & spiritually – in a manner that is healthy and sustainable. He is an avid listener and learner and we happily gave him his new Bible to celebrate healthy changes in his life.
